So, I've been playing TiM POweELL for a while...and I know Jack has been laughing (or annoyed) at me. But, I'm going to try to start looking and viewing some boats in person. I don't have checkbook in hand just yet, but it's shit or get off the pot--I don't have to buy, but I need to at least start visiting.
I don't know if the market for sportfish in this size is going to drop more, but I'm sure they won't go up. All the boats on my list appear to have been for sale for quite some time. 80-100k would be a nice budget with plenty of extra room for "unknowns" for me--I could go higher, but it lowers my comfort level. Who knows if the ones on this list would get to that range, but I think it's a reasonable budget given the market (and time on market).
In general order from what I would think is best to less best:
refit 1982 50c with fresh overhauls: www.yachtworld.com/boats/1982/Hatteras-50-Convertible-2421592/Palmetto/FL/United-States#.UaF_q9hQ_PY
TIED for 1st right now (I'd have to get price down) 1992 43c with QSMs: www.yachtworld.com/boats/1992/Hatteras-Sportfishing-2409426/Vero-Beach/United-States#.UaF_5thQ_PY
48c in Long Island: www.yachtworld.com/boats/1988/Hatteras-Convertible-2466038/Long-Island/NY/United-States#.UaGAO9hQ_PY
42c refit and repowered with volvos: www.yachtworld.com/boats/1974/Hatteras-42-Convertible-REDONE--REPOWER-2552093/Pompano-Beach/FL/United-States#.UaGAp9hQ_PY
freshwater 48c in knoxville (price would have to be steal to make the trip and needs interior updating): www.yachtworld.com/boats/1989/Hatteras-Sportfish-48-2533877/Knoxville/TN/United-States#.UaGA9thQ_PY
I would also consider a 1990's 39c, but I think it's a tad bit small...I'd have to visit one to see though.
Anyway, if anybody knows of any other boats out there of any brand that are similar, please let me know.
I also thank everybody for all the input and help.
