Maybe it's time to take a ride and start looking at a few of these. If you look at Hatt SF listings, you'll notice the good ones are disappearing. Most of what's out there are tired and overpriced. The good boats are moving and the selling price for the good ones are getting stronger. There have been a few recent sales of boats that I looked at before I bought mine. These boats sold at fair prices and have now resold for more. I know of a 65EB that sold the same time as I bought mine. Boat is pristine and sold for $200K more than I paid for mine. He listed the boat last month and has had 2 offers on her. Both offers are close to $75K more than he paid for it. He also has an offer to trade for his full ask. I'm not saying that the market is getting hot but it is getting better. Many realize that the inventory for good boats is much lower than it was a few years ago.

I like the 1974 42' with the Volvos, for about 55k. The word "Redone" scares Me but 360 engine hrs brings it back.
Being the freshwater sissy that I am, whenever I look at a salt boat I'm dissappointed. They are much harder to keep the details nice.
I also find that there is more info in what is not stated in the ad, then what is stated.
Go look at it!

well, I got the go-fast boat and other toys keeping me busy, so the hatt search is like "wow that's a great one, I'll buy it". I think the high $$ season is upon us as well.
The 43 for 195k with cummins that says sale pending...the broker said the owner wanted close to that, but may drop some. Who knows what it goes for...for me it'd have to be around 100k or less because of all the unknowns and slow speed. I discussed boat pricing with broker briefly and (surprise...not) she said she just sold a 45 hatt with 6v92 for 180k. Whatever....good for her!
Sequester and gov cutbacks are happening, so another wave of hurt is around the bend....sadly.
The 42 looks interesting...still must be a reasno it hasn't sold. He said it's slow with 20mph cruise. (I have to verify in my notes).

Ok, so I'd say the 42 with volvos and this 46 with volvos would be two that I need to look at. www.yachtworld.com/boats/1979/Hatteras-Convertible-2426456/Stuart/FL/United-StatesI talked to owner of the 46 with volvos and he said WOT 29.5 22kt at 37gph, 9.7kt at 5gph both engines and 7.5kt 2.5gph single engine (can freewheel twin disc, he said). Thos numbers sound right for 600hp volvos. All mechanical engines, no electronics. Interior is updated but kinda utilitarian for me and i think he said he'd take 110k with nobroker and is pretty firm. He says Jarret Bay did the repower. 1080hrs on engines now 1000hrs service done...repower in 1999. 2inch shafts (1piece aquamat) and original rudders. 24v starting and 12v house with equilizer 32x36 4blade 2:1 gears. 16kw norther light with 1000hr salt wter heads with electrosan...I'd rather vacuflush. Interior is a bit sparce, but what do you 46 guys think about living aboard part time?

Guy with 46 with volvos wants to deal but not steal....old electronics, sparse interior, little updating, twin master, wiring looks average, but not cleaned up. I know the 46c is a great boat, but I'm in no rush and want nice/pretty/turn key if I'm pulling a deal.
