Yes. 6.5 natural. Later ones had turbos, but this one had enough problems without the extra complications.

Yes. 6.5 natural. Later ones had turbos, but this one had enough problems without the extra complications. When I bought my 01 Sub which was in 06 I looked at several that had the 6.5 in them everyone had had head gaskets replaced. Saw one with a sale sign turned out to be a friend said he wouldn’t even sell it to me the 6.5 was such a POS. Seemed to be all head related like the 5.7 is that true?

Not that I'm aware of. It wasn't a legendary engine by any stretch, but more of the problems were in the bottom end than the top. The biggest issues with them were electrical related to the electronic fuel injection. Oftentimes the pumps themselves (mostly the Pump Mounted Driver) sometimes harnesses and sensors. In fact most of the PMD problems were caused by harnesses and not the PMD itself. The ones with mechanical fuel injection were pretty reliable. I put a turbo kit on my 6.2L Suburban and it never gave me any issues for almost 100K miles. Nor did it the next two owners until it went underwater. I would guess that, typical of all vehicles, the people who really had problems with them probably abused and or didn't maintain them.
Now that I'm thinking about it the Hummer was a turbo. (It's been a while) The Hummers used the van configuration which put the turbo in the back of the engine. The pickups had it more prominently hanging off the side.

That's some good spelling right there. The Chinaman must have used Google translate.

Herbie's cousin stopped in: I remember when these things were everywhere. Now it's an occasion. This getting old business sucks.

70’s? My dad bought a 54 for my mom had the semifore turn signals Pa inspection made him disconnect them said it was a danger to pedestrians. In 1960 they bought a new one through the VW club I think it was. Picked it up in Hamburg and drove all over Europe for a month then the club shipped it back to the states. Buying it in Germany was cheap enough to pay for the entire trip. The old man was a crazy driver and drove it like a race car. He’d downshift and slam it into corners. I was pretty little but we’d go out in the snow and he drifted every corner. He lost it one time took out a neighbors mailbox and kept going up over their lawn circled back into the street and kept going. Someone called my mom and she made him go back and fix it. When the snow melted in the spring there was a big u shaped set of ruts in their lawn we had to go back and fix.

So what did the semiphore signals read?
