Actually, (Don't Ya hate it when someone starts with that?) Scott is not alone, but in the minority for sure. My bitch is NOT about walmart knocking out little stores. But that does take away from American culture. What?? It's all about instant gratification, conspicuois consumption, how do I get to the top with out working My way up, Me Me Me! Billy's smart phone screen is bigger then mine! Get in the damn Truck! I'll think My way and You think Your way, but I'll still be glad to read on You website that the hull sheeting on Your towboats are American made?? In the chinese truck, Kiwi

Kiwi My bitch with walfart killing off the little stores is the fact that they get special tax and labor advantages to come into an area and screw up the people that have been paying taxes and working there for years.

But they can't screw up those people unless they're customers decide to abandon them and go to walmart. Look my uncle was in the dry cleaning business permanent press came along and hurt him be he adjusted his business to the times. My dad had a TV repair business solid state hurt him but he adjusted and prospered. I developed a beautiful pin together sectional barge system and 9 years ago we were building them like crazy. A whole bunch of mom and pop companies mostly in the mid west started copying my system. I can't compete with 2 guys in a barn with a torch and a welding machine. So I adjust and move on haven't built a barge in 8 years.
That's how capitalism works it's forever changing and you either adapt and survive or you wallow in your own brine blame and complain and eventually fail. You choose not the gov. or the Chinese or wal mart. You rise or fall on your own decisions.

Walmart sells quite a bit of stuff that's MADE IN USA.
Besides, go to any "mom and pop" local place....tell me what they have on the shelf....the same chinese stuff that walfart has. Ace Hardware probably has more china stuff.

Walmart imports more Chinese products than any country except the US. I rarely find american made stuff except with brands they have to carry by customer demand. The do not have the old "buy American directive" like Sam Walton did.

Its the fuckin cheapskate blow boaters and MY owners. Too many people only look at price. A Big Mac cost less than a filet but too many morons don't care that one is better than the other. They see no additional vale so they go to Mcd. Hey those cows are made in the USA. Brian hit the nail on the head. Consumers want low priced goods. The quality of most products has slipped in to the toilet. Don't fix anything, just toss it and buy a new one. Very few things are built to last. even our durable goods are only good for a few years. When I was a kid a washer, dryer, fridge, TV etc. would last for decades not 3 or 4 years.
