Had this classic Continental Multi-fuel engine show up today with a minor fuel leak in the "Fuel Density Compensator." This component of the injection system allowed the engine to operate normally when burning motor oil, jet fuel, peanut oil, straight or mixed, whatever they could get their hands on... even diesel fuel. Most of them have been locked out for diesel fuel only. I suspect this one was too, but the plumbing was still connected to the special governor cover so it looked authentic. Turned out the leak was a plumbing problem and I talked myself out of a job again. Such is life, but this thing was so perfect that I had to grab a few photos. The legendary Deuce-And-A-Half: There's tons of these around and they usually go for cheap as surplus, but this guy did a hell of a job on the restoration. All the correct labels, he even went to the OE for the updated fiberglass bed rails and LED directional lamps. Everything on it was spotless. Well, except for the fuel leak.

The Deuce and a half. I worked on more of them than I care to remember. That was at the Roslyn NY Air National Guard base. Run on anything that burned and kept right on going when the driver was up to his neck in water. The later models had an all wheel drive lock out. It disabled the differentials so all wheels engaged all the time. In Low Low you could put the bumper up against a 10" tree easy off on the clutch and down came the tree.

A friend of mine and his brother each have one, but they have property in NC so there's room to keep them. This guy happens to have a place away from neighbors to keep it as well. They're pretty easy to come by, and over in VA krush can probably find an easy place to park it. Around here, maybe not so much.

I need one of them for the wife. She likes big trucks and that could burn anything.
Is there any oil in arabs. I think I can grind them up and render out the fuel. Thats my way of returning the favor.

No, sorry. He only opened the side cover so there wasn't much that a camera could see. But it was just as clean under there.... Well, except for that fuel leak.

There are a lot of them around here. Converted into tomato haulers, flat beds, tow trucks, They're last forever trucks in all respects but very clumsy and sluggish to drive even by truck standards.

This was one of the later design ones with the turbocharged engine. A whopping 165 HP. Stright pipe, no muffler. Sounded like a jet, but I'm sure it flew like a pig.
