Got to drive an H1 civilian Hummer today. It's going to come to the shop soon so pics to follow in a week or two.
Considering the price, it's not the luxury vehicle you'd expect.

I sat in one at the Detroit Auto Show years ago. Luxury would not have been my first descriptor. That motor hatch in the middle makes it pretty cramped for such a big vehicle.

I love history, but I hate looking at all this old stuff because it shows how amazing our country/society once ways, and how far we've truly fallen.

Well, the Hummer finally showed up and I had some pics to post. However, Tinypic seems to be infested with malware. So I'll try to get some pics up whenever something starts to work. Sorry.

Yeah, sorry. This is about my third time trying to log in to tinypic and I keep getting the unstoppable pop-up that tells me my computer has viruses, downloading my personal information and account numbers, blah, blah, blah and the only way to shut it off is to close all my browsers. Maybe I can do it with the phone, but all the edited pics are on my computer. I shall persist.

Hoo-frikin' ray. Finally got a few loaded. Sky was referring to the mega-console. It's wide as heck, and pretty much runs the length of the vehicle. Even though it has a mostly GM drivetrain it's a little unusual. The engine is offset to the passenger side. It makes that side of the engine incredibly awkward to work on. I know the military ones are designed so a private can fix them, but the cram a lot of crap into the civilian version. Front differential, note where the brakes are. Plenty of undercarriage protection. She's a wierd one to drive. It's about as wide as a dually, visibility is kind of funny, the widows are low and narrow, but it's not the worst. One thing is for sure, it gets plenty of attention going through the neighborhood. I don't know that I would really want to own one, but the mystique of these things is hard to deny.
