Well we all know what this is but forget that for a moment. I'm surprised no one has broken it down like this. For me it becomes crystal clear when you do. So Hunter Bidet gets a job with a Ukraine energy company for 83K a month. He's not qualified at all and it's obvious he gets this position soley because he's the son of the vice president. Anything illegal about that? No. The vice president who's point man for Ukraine demands that a Ukraine prosecutor that might be investigating the company who employes his son be fired before releasing financial aid to Ukraine. Anything wrong with that? Maybe it would all depend on weather or not it was in the best interest of the USA to do so. If it was there is no problem even if this benefits Hunter Bidet.
So Trump asks the new president of Ukraine to investigate the firing of this prosecutor. Anything wrong with that? Maybe it all depends on why. Would a reasonable person look at this situation and believe that it may be corrupt? Not conclude that it is or it isn't but could it be? If you answer yes to that as I believe most people would then the presidents done nothing wrong and that holds true even if the president gains a political advantage in the process. Any politician might gain a political advantage by doing whats in the best interest of the USA that's just the way it works. That's not an abuse of power that's a president doing his job his true motivations for doing don't matter as long as there's just cause and it is in the best interest of the USA.
Now look at the articles of impeachment. First obstruction of congress. They base this one on the fact that the president did not comply with subpoenas for witnesses. Refusing to comply with a subpoena is done all the time in politics and elsewhere and when that happens a court decides who's right or wrong. The house said they didn't have time to let the courts decide so tough shit you lose that's the way the law works. Then abuse of power. The framers considered male administration as cause for impeachment but decided not to include it because it's to subjective. So they decided on Treason Bribery or other high crimes and misdemeanors. Abuse of power does not fit as cause for impeachment as described in the constitution.
You could easily make an argument that the house moving forward with impeachment on such flimsy evidence and knowing that the senate will never convict is in itself an abuse of power and done soley to gain a political advantage. Exactly what they're acusing the president of. Half of this country has gone insane.
