Actually I understand where Brian is coming from. I voted for McCain and to a lesser extent Romney with a clothespin on my nose. Only to try to save America from hateful muslim traitor. It not only didn't work, but it has kept the Republican party in the same death spiral that it's been in since after Reagan. Maybe it is time to let things get so bad that it collapses. What we're doing now isn't doing a G.D. thing to help us.

If the morons running the party would listen to the people it would be different. They lost to bambam twice because they can't accept moderate views.
I'm not in favor of abortion or gay marriage but to only back a candidate that will overturn them is a death sentence.
Tell best way to stop abortion is education and prevention. If there's no baby being made there's no chance to abort it. I won't comment on the rape issues as I don't believe a man should be the one to make that decision.
Gay marriage is here because we accepted the idea of people being responsible to and for each other. Just don't make it mandatory.
We need to break the politicians hold on our country. If we don't elect a political outsider were going to continue in the manner we've be following until we're so far gone we can't fix it.
Remember way back when the first socialist society was told everything would be provided for them as long as they didn't eat the apple. Tbe frst socialist program and every one since failed. Our nature is to want more and to do it we can't be told only do this and not that. It's never worked.

It's simpler than all this. The winner will be whom the oligarchs want to win.

I'd go with Trump in the primary. He's a loose cannon but he's not a bought and paid for member of the political class. I'd vote for Carson or Fioriana for the same reason. If the popular vote in the primary comes out Trump and the GOP power structure picks someone else I'll sit it out no matter who it is. Cruze is the biggest bullshit artist on the stage. If consevatives are stupid enough to give him the nomination, If they actually believe his crap then have at it I'll sit it out. If you keep voting for crap in the primary you'll only have more crap in the future. In My opinon everything in the opener to this thread is true. We now have a political class that exists only to serve itself. As a people when somone who is not a member of the political class presents themselfs as a candidate and that person has reasonable ideas and especialy if that person can fund they're own campaign then we must support them and exclude all others. If we don't do that then we are condemed to forever being controled by the political class. If we jump on every outsider like flys on shit then we will eventually get more outsiders willing to run and put the career politions out of bussines. Brian

I like Cruze and Trump. It is about time the Republicans got their balls back! Carson is brilliant but not up to politics and Carly won't get elected. The donor class want Rubio. He is a real rino and is for amnesty. Jeb's time came and went. I like Christie zingers but don't trust him, he also lost the election for Romney. As far as the gay marriage and abortion, they will always go Democrat. Most conservatives are against it and trying to make it a repub issue will drive the voters away.
I am afraid that the RNC will try to submarine Trump and Cruze and put their lap dog Rubio in. They don't understand how angry we are and if they force Rubio or Jeb then it is Clintons coronation.

IMHO, and it's just that, my view of the world. It's not about gay marriage or immigration or abortion. It's about the money. It's the rampant spending and growth of government. Reagan won on a promise to cut government and spending. I think that's Trump's big advantage too. He's not beholden to any lobby, union or other manipulator. He's a guy that the people can see pulling the subsidy rug out from under the corn lobby (for example) and gutting the regulatory agencies and taxes that are driving jobs and corporations out of America. Anybody who can do simple math has to know that the entitlement programs are in a death spiral, and the Baby Boom's sense of self-preservation has got to have them voting for somebody that can get the systems solvent, or find a reasonable way out instead borrowing trillions which only delays the inevitable rubber benefit check that will come.
We're heading down the road of Greece and the rest of Europe, and I think enough people know that to want to elect someone who will staunch the bleeding.

HAH! The boomers keep electing whoever will keep the musical chairs going until they croak.
