SLEEPING?!?!?! It's only six o'clock! The pot of water absorbs heat and keeps the element in the hot plate from burning out. The "load bank" is everything we could grab that used a lot of electricity so we could make sure the generator could carry rated load. What's the biggest electrical load other than a dead short? Resistance loads i.e. things that turn electrical energy into heat energy. A real commercial load bank is a fancy version of the same thing. Resistance elements that can be brought online as needed to load a generator. I'm happy to report that despite some technical difficulties the Red Menace carried load like a champ. The prime mover (engine) is good, the back-end (generator) is good, it just needs some fixing up.

The Red Menace....hmm...some one else names his tools!!!! Must be a guy thing.... Westerbeast, Red Menace, Genny-fer... whatever. It doesn't actually have a name. But I think it's a guy thing that we can't call anything what it's actually supposed to be called. Look at how many euphemisms we have for certain body parts. We NEVER use clinical terms. Didja ever see these?? It the white ho'.... ;D ;D ;D Trivia question> How many Hoffman starter cartriges were carried onboard in "flight of the phoenix"? ws Yep, saw those. That injection pump looks familiar. I have a couple of short vids of mine running, but I'm not going to bother setting up a youboob account just for that. And I'm going to go with five cartridges but it's been a long time since I saw that movie. Part of his load ;D I love it and have done it hook anything and every thing you got. Thanks Beavis. ;D It's a good thing it's only a 7.7 kW. I was running out of hair dryers, heaters, heat guns, etc. We were getting ready to drag the microwave outside, but we got 52 amps which is about 80% load and it carried it for an hour with no issues. I think it leaked more fuel than it burned.

I was hoping to load it with air conditioning, but the A/C units look like they were abandoned in place. We ran into two problems getting the unit going. First, the rack in the injection pump was hung up. Since we weren't going bother changing seals until we knew the unit was good it ended up leaking. I hope I can find someone to fix that. ;D The other problem, once we got it going, was that it overheated almost immediately. We traced that to a heat exchanger plugged with green goo. Soaked it and flushed it, re-installed and it held temp with no problems. There's still a lot of little issues, but as long as I know the major components are in good shape I'll happily put the work and a few $$$ into it. Speaking of making heat... is anybody familiar with a way to tap the cooling system on these for the hot water heater? I know Westerbeast shows how on their propulsion engines, but haven't seen anything for the generators.

It's a tap off the circulating water that feeds into and back from a water heater with a heat exchanger.
