Heres some REAL trivia! In early 1961 the SS Santa Maria was hijacked by Portugese terrorists. The hijacking lasted 11 days until about Feb 2 1961 when the ship returned to Port Everglades. As a kid, me and the family joined the arrival on gramps' boat SUNCHASER with all the local fireboats firing off all their water cannons to celebrate its' arrival. There was an aerial photograph of its arrival on the front page of the Miami Herald I believe. I had that front page many years ago but havent been able to find it. The photo shows the arrival with the SUNCHASER on its' port side. I tried for a few hours in vain to find that pic on google and the Miami papers to no avail. A copy would sure be neat. Any ideas?? After gramps died in '67, the boat was sold and kept local to Miami (Hollywood Fl actually) and ultimately used in a Miami Vice episode crash and burn scene in Biscayne Bay I think. Id really like to see that as well... just some closure ya know??? Any help would really be appreciated ! If this sounds familiar, I posted this request about 5 years ago across the hall and it fell on deaf ears. So much for all the exspurts over there... Thanks in advance... ws We were somewhere in that armada SS SANTA MARIA somewhere in the carribean
