3.3 million. Not bad for a piece of television history.

I know scrap is a hot market right now, but 3.3 mil plus the oxy-acetylene and labor to cut it up....?

So reading the article triggered a memory....
When I was a widdle kid, my parents took me to the piers in NYC two times to see people off on a cruise. For some reason I can still remember the names of the two ships. I guess they made a big impression on a little kid.
This was a very pre Sept 11 world when people had a party in the cabin for friends and family before departure, and everybody threw confetti and streamers when the ship left the dock.
One of those passengers was my Aunt leaving on her honeymoon. Years later in dinner conversation, and probably a story that had been told at the time unnoticed by a kid, she related how the honeymoon had been interrupted when the QE2 had an engine failure and their ship had to divert to it and get the passengers off.
Now, thanks to wikipedia, using that story I was able to identify which of those two ships my Aunt was on.
One of the ships I saw was the Oceanic, and the ship my Aunt honeymooned on was the Sea Venture. Which became the Pacific Princess when it was sold to Princess Cruises.
So I was on The Love Boat before it was The Love Boat, and I didn't even know it until I read that article. I'm willing to bet that my Aunt has no idea either. It's going to make a great Paul Harvey "rest of the story" when I tell her.

Oh, and her oldest son ended up doing a college internship on the QE2.
Everything's connected.

Sounds like an episode of Seinfeld.

Sometimes good and sometimes bad, but very often my life seems like an episode of Seinfeld.
