I got in a conversation today, with a guy about Guam. The reasons are involved, but it stemmed from a remark about "Where America Greets The Day" or something similar which is supposedly a Guam motto. So I've been told....by somebody.... Anyway, he was describing to me how he passed Guam on a U.S. Navy Aircraft Carrier when there was a MOB. Seems a Guam native ran across the flight deck and headed home. Or storyteller related that the island wasn't even visible, just the clouds, it was 8 or 9 miles off when this guy started Mark Spitzing for home. Needless to say, the Navy got to him before he got home. I just thought it was interesting. First off, if you've ever stood on the deck of an Aircraft Carrier you know that the water is VERY far away. Second, how homesick do you have to be to try a stunt like that? I mean, if you have any clue, you've got to know that it's a long swim, and you're not swimming alone in the tropics: Navy life must be tough..... "We joined the Navy, to see the world, But what did we see? We saw the sea."

I said: "Where America Greets The Day" or something similar I always try to do a to a CYA, especially when I've been drinking.... I'll let you figure out which side of the conversation the drinking took place on.
