Decided to go out to the last race. My BIL is racing a Lancair legacy in the sport class. He got us pit passes which is cool. My wife dropped a giant stainless Yeti cup filled with ice and water on her foot and fractured a bone but she’s persevering on a skateboard. Unreal watching P51’s chase each other around the racecourse. imgur.com/a/VgJjiJm

Wow. I just saw something about Reno ending but I thought I misheard.
Pics would be nice. Hint.

Thank you. I find it interesting that I had to acknowledge that I was over 18 to view the images. What did you do, label the album "Airplane Porn"? It wouldn't be wrong. But it seems to have set a red flag. Loved the Warbirds that didn't look modified, I @$$ume they race those too. It's all so cool. What a shame it's all coming to an end.

Bitter sweet day my BIL won the sport division and we got to ride the victory fire truck but next race 2 planes had a midair killing both pilots in the T6 division. They stopped all racing and ended the races on a sad note

I was impressed with the camaraderie in the pits. For the most part these were all volunteers friends and family working on the planes. None of the slick professional crews and operations of other types of racing. Not uncommon to borrow parts and tools from other racers. We had a lot of issues with my brother-in-laws plane right up to last race. Had 3 fuel pump issues and changed the prop out to his spare for the last race. I didn’t expect to get dirty but I got put to work too. Final race he crossed the finish line and called mayday with severe vibration and shaking. I’ve got a feeling it happened before the finish line but he had to cross it to win. Turned out it was a big hunk of speed tape that came loose and was banging under the fuselage. It was well worth the trip to see the last races. I never cou envision how the spectators could see the course but it is the perfect place to do it. Unlimited visibility out there and the course is kind of in a bowl right in front of you.

Must have been a great experience.
When I was involved in Stock Car Racing there was the same kind of camaraderie. If someone needed a part or a push it was all shared freely.
We'd also share just enough info about the cars and the setup to keep you safe and out of trouble. But not enough to help you win.
