i'm trying to help a friend fix a fuel gauge problem. outboard boat, 250 yamaha 4 stroke....fuel gauge was jumping up and down, he replaced the sending unit and gauge all we get now is gauge pegs below empty when the key is turned on. no wires are properly color coded so i am guessing....i hope he swapper the wires to the new parts in the right place. anybody got any ideas??

If it's a standard unit the sender should read between 240 or so empty and 25 at full. Time to get the meter out

i didnt have my meter with me bu thos numbers are good to know. i'll check that monday thanks

Make sure he got the correct sender the smart gauges on this new stuff uses intrinsically safe level senders. I had to swap out my old ones when I repowered my Dusky last year.

he replaced it with a matching faria. i'll get deeper into it later, i went to change a hose for him and he asked to look at the gauge, i didnt have the right tools or the time to look at it properly
