Sweet! Looks like you got my money's worth. All it managed to do for me was make a plug fall into a heat exchanger. Ended up using Silkolene to seal it up. We'll see how well that actually works when I finally start the generator.

Damn SCROD! Rule of thumb is one full turn (cutting fresh threads on tapered pipe)can cause a diameter increase of like 10%. I did that on the exhaust manifolds for zinc pencils on the Roamer and the 1/8 plugs almost fall in. If I cranked them tight, they'd be gone. Just snug is OK in fresh water. Some asshole in the past (!!) put in steel plugs into cast iron and wasted the threads; same in the house, just took 115 years LOL. I just chased those threads for the sink with channel locks to get the crud out, then vacuumed clean for the big insert, or, einsatzgrupen.
Finding shit-in-the-shop requires Ppat to work th block and tackle with me hanging by the feets and swing in like Tarzan. Its also MINUS 5 in there right now so organizing is on an "as needed" basis. The whole house was painted in Milk Chocolate brown which really looks cruddy, plus an entire dropped ceiling job losing 12 inches done in 1950. Ya know where all the 20 paint trays, brushes and rollers are right? I DONT LOL...Carry on!

When I ended up in Pa 10 years ago running my moms place I had to duplicate everything I had here in Florida. I took some things but ended up duplicating everything. Some of the stuff more current and better than I have here. Electrical plumbing welders automotive pretty much everything. I sold and left a lot but there’s just so mu you can bring. I still have a 28’ cargo trailer packed full. I’m faced with stuff like my turbo torch. I had a near new one I sold up north. Whent to grab mine here and the hose was rotten and tank out of gas.

Then the crud stopped it. So I just ran the tap into it to knock the crud out of the threads. After that the plug engaged fully, but just continued going into the extrusion. I wasn't going to do anything else stupid. I've done enough of that. So Silkolene up the threads and le that be the loctite. Done.

I've probably mentioned it before, but I have a similar problem. Between mom's house, my house and the shop I need three of almost everything. If I only have two, guaranteed I'll need it in the location that doesn't have one. And if there's only one it will be in the farthest geographic location from where it is needed.

Stephs LAW LOL... Ever been to Mt Everest? Thats another favorite spot; All you need to do is snag a rope around a rock to save then entire expedition. Toss and toss and toss and everyone is doomed, YET, pull an extension cord 3 feet to where its needed and BAM!! Pinched under a tire or wrapped around a table leg that OF COURSE youll need to go out a door, and around the entire building to un-snag... sometimes it sucks being me hahaha...WAIT! Thats not all. uncoil a 100 foot cord thats frozen stiff only to find its a foot short of the 12" cord on the drill. YIKES!!!
