Thats a pretty neat idea! Used to call thos golf course bibs. Hmmm. They must be self draining like a fire hydrant, The bases get mounted in a cube of Grade 8 stone that can absorb the hydrant full of water. IIRC the ones at the power plant were 6 feet deep. Open the valve 100% to back seat it and close off the drain, then when it closed the drain is exposed to empty the casing. Ingenious!

We had one by the barn. Was probably there before the renovation and conversion to offices. Thing never leaked and I think the seal was down at the bottom below the frost line.

The unit needs to be settled in stone for drainage. That may be a quart for this or gallons from a hydrant. Lift the handle or unscrew the plug to open a valve at the bottom. It back seats the vakve and presto! Water. Close the device and the water is allowed to drain out the vertical line into the stone for dispersion.

Ours had a nob on the top and turned on and off like a regular faucet.

Ours had a nob on the top and turned on and off like a regular faucet. We had these all over the farm. At every barn and water trough.

BUMP!
Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Seems like a few of us are having a rough year. Hopefully we at least get a break for Turkey Day.
I wish everyone better days ahead.

It's been a crazy week but all home and healthy ish.
The turkey salesman lied. We're stuck with this fake stuff. They call it chateaubriand.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone. We have a lot to be thankful for. Our house is coming along beautifully. The office has been painted and we love the color so much we are going to use the same color in our bedroom next spring. The outside is almost done (for now). Bill can work inside shop B and get around 2 cars.
Our health sucks but we are getting older so to be expected.
The kids took off for North Carolina today so I have a lot less dog hair to manage. 4 dogs is just a little too much...LOL We had ham last night so today I made Willy and myself scallop potatoes and ham for dinner. It felt strange cooking for only 2 again.
What are you thankful for??? I am very thankful for Willy. He completes me.
