Nice. I love neat, clean and shiny. And when someone knows how to use a tubing bender.

Yeah... it all, starts in about 3rd grade with a lesson like: "How to read a ruler". That in itself is a lost art LOL... Lemme see, GOOGLE a pic of something, shoot a selfie holding the part, then query, uh, what size is this? I see that all the time on car forums and the like. Kids today are all Oscars (!!). ws

Schematics be damned! Took the CHEYENNE out for spin yesterday. The owner on board (he's afraid to drive it), Engineer #1 and #1-1/2 (me) A Captain (unlimited master and wife) and a kid who hung around taking pics all day. The owner thinks its a simple start up and go; he dont realize that its a 2-3 hour start up process. He helps out a lot, but with opening hatches in ballast tanks to visually inspect levels, he has to wipe of the tools and then go hang everything back up in the ER on specific pins with wrench outlines (an old Pollock thing), then shrugs his shoulders when ya ask where the sockets are. Leave the shit alone until we're done. Probably made 5 miles on ladders yesterday LOL. Gotta work smarter, not harder.
Run went well; a few odds and ends to sort out, but otherwise, ready for action. ws

So today was a lesson learned. The RV was built by MORAN via government contract. Its an uninspected vessel, so the builder cheaped out and used chinaman brass pipe fittings and nipples, all 1" stuff. I think they put one of the afternoon kids from the short bus on the job with a 48" pipe wrench. All the pipe was egg shaped, and with new steel (galvanized) nipples, the bastard still leaked all over. A whole damn day shot. I went to a local piping supply house and ordered the entire manifold out of stainless which is half the cost of brass. I tried to cheap out and it failed. All the fittings has stickers saying NOT for potable water... contains lead. KRIPES!! So the chinaman used lead instead of pure copper in the bronze alloy, and it all leached out leaving the part porous. YOU HAVE GOT TO BE SHITTING ME!!! Nothing but fucking trash... end of rant! The new manifold will be assembled and ready by 0900 tomorrow for an easy install... I HOPE! ws

Had to source out all the chinabrass for, get this, all Taiwanese stainless. Ya cant win! The SS was quoted as "substantially" less than brass. The final bill for Joe-n-da-ho came out to $461.25 including bench assembly at the pipe shop. They sure didnt spare the pipe dope; all the critical measurements check out so it should be an easy install early tomorrow. Let us pray; the lumbago is killin' me LOL...
