So in light of the recent attempted Coupe de tat at the capital and all the other bullshit going on worldwide, Ive been doing some soul searching. Living in the western world, with a government thats beginning to reach for a socialist atmosphere, they need to take control of the populace. The easiest way to do this is to control the sheeple with infrastructure control. Face it, troops alone are never going to manage control of a gig country like ours.
So the local powers are going to start rationing water, electricity and food. Before long, that rationing will merge into control to garner submission. Dont like it? Of goes the gas and electric in the dead of winter, water is another measure of control. Food is the last resort. Am I overthinking this??
So yesterday, to help foster a bit of self sustainability, I joined SCRODS "OHMAN CLUB". I have a small 3600 rpm generator that I use on the boat during the winter (power is off at the yard) but alas, its a china knock off and a throw away, but has served me well since the HATT TRICK days. The Roamer has a nice 6.5 KW Onan marine MCCK unit thats pretty simple to and I like it since its an 1800 rpm unit, its quiet and doesnt run balls out all day.
Things being what they may, I picked up a CCK (?) air cooled Onan for the house. It came out of an RV with 21 hours on it with a brand new battery for 300.00 I couldnt even try to Jew(!) the guy down (please, no offense intended here!!). A click of the switch and it starts but it has a choke issue(its electric) and it seems to hunt without a steady load on it. I think the carb and governor settings need some finessing.
The unit is rated at 4KV continuous but only at 110VAC. Now the question; Are these generator ends wound for only 110VAC? Thats what the tag reads. My boat has a 110/220 tap on the generator end. I can deal with 110 only and the 4KV will certainly run our house, but no 220 and the AC is out of service.
Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated. Live long and prosper guys! Hope things get better before having to go off the grid... ws
