12 years and what has the United States learned? We as a people pay our respects to the fallen and those who will fall from this tragic event but our Government has not changed its ways. We still try to be the "Big kid on the block" and run the show.
Now, I have been hearing that they are going to allow ( gave a permit for ) a million Muslim march on D.C. today. BUT, denied(a permit) for a 2 million biker ride threw D. C. today. The Bikers are still supposed to converge but because of the denial they will take all day to ride the streets because they will not be given the same rights as the Muslims. They will have to stop at all lights and obey all traffic signals. The Muslims will not and will have Police escorts paid for by our tax dollars.
This will be a defining day for America as we know it. As I said, it has not been confirmed, the Media is bought and paid for by our Government....ppat

About 25 dirty Muslims are all that showed up. 900,000 bikers though

There were probably more muslims, but the bikers saw them first.

So a lot of news stories are about people pushing to make this a national holiday. Of course the people pushing it are mostly family of victims and politicians pandering to them.
So let's see, we make it a national holiday and stores will be having $9.11 sales and people will have barbecues to "celebrate" the day. Just like we "celebrate" Memorial Day. Pretty soon they'll move it from Sept 11th to the closest Fri or Mon to a weekend. Should really help us remember.
Why don't we have the day off on Dec. 7th?

Most of time when you make a comment about Dec 7, no one even knows what you're talking about. So much for a day that will live in infamy.

Only vets and the older generation seem to hold December 7th as a somber day. I remember it every year but do not get the big effect like they as I was not born until the 60's.
That being said I do remember 9-11 and every year make sure I remind my son of what happened. I know he will remember but h8s kids may not care because they will be so removed from something that happened when he was 2.

I know what you mean. I was born in the 60's as well. My son was 3 when 9/11 happened. I get it.
What is really mind blowing is hearing him tell how his English teacher was in 10th grade when 9/11 happened. That just doesn't seem right. It seems like yesterday to me.
