I dont even know what "molecular primer" is, something like "etchloc" maybe? I'm using "Rust bullet" in the hot spots, where We've actually cut the original hull plate out, from the inside, right to the weld. Then grind smooth, leaving the overplate repairs from 8 years ago, in place. The topcoat on the hull is a Pettit system, dont remember the name but I'll find a can of it and post it. Some interior shots as of yesterday. Well it looks like We have our work cut out for us, our budget is about $6000 and We'd like to "break water" this season. I guess We'll see what happens. Kiwi

Yee Haw !!! At least youve got most of the big stuff removed for access. When I did mine in '86-87, I had the deckhouse ON THE GROUND, then insulated the entire hull with foam blocks glued in. The worst part was the window frames... CC built them out of several pieces of mohagany strips that decayed over time. I machined solid frames out of 2X3" teak that was 14 feet long... couldnt even fathom the $$$ today!! The primer I was refering to is the stuff that turns rust black, or into an oxide primer. Its one part and soaks into the stuff like penetrating oil. That 12 gage steel isnt very forgiving. My aluminum is .220"... just a tad under 1/4" . So where was the water letter inner at??? ws

Isn't that a bit large for the cooling water intake on gassers?
Looks like the right size for the 12v detroits though.

Standard order from the bridge to the engine room .... "SPOOLEM' UP!!" I cant believe the whole strut pulled off and took the botom with it! No indication it was letting go? Vibration etc?? My alum struts used to crack (with 283s) and when I repowered with the 454s, I fabbed up stainless jobs with an intermediate strut to boot! Are ya gettin' good with the MIG welder? That looks like a fun project, just too damn bad the precurser to it was so catastrophic! ws Lotsa geometry here... I am a firm believer that this one allows me to run at 37 MPH at 4500 rpm... !

I like the A/C rig. I thought about doing something like that in college because they wouldn't let us have A/C units in the dorms---but we had a sink Scrapped the plan after I saw it wasn't really that hot

Yes, I like the idea of an intermediate strut, We'll see what happens when We get to that point.
Back to the story
After We bought it, We had to take the Roamer down river about 50 miles to Our home port in Trempelaeu Wis. On the maiden voyage, I notice that the port motor still has a slight vibe but it's better, if You were'nt looking for it You would'nt notice it was there. everything else is great, it's just a nice, nice boat.
In Trempeleau, We get to know the boat better, check out all the systems etc., after a few days, Mike and I feel like it's ready for the trip south. The Trojan was ready and I had already had it in the water for a few months with no problems. The loose plan is to take both boats down to Kentucky lake and leave the Roamer there as a weekend getaway kinda boat. I was bored with the Trojan and wanted to sell it, I knew it was'nt coming home with Me and would probably end up in Fla. I had made the trip before and sold another boat the same way in Tampa Fla after the same trip, a few years before.
Going along with us was Denny and His 32' flybridge. Denny was going to the Keys and planned on trailering back up in the spring, I figured I might tag along in the Tojan, if it was in the cards. We're all from the same nieghborhood and get along well. Onboard the Roamer were Mike, His wife Jay and their 17yr old son Rich. The Trojan crew were Me, My 13 yr old son Bo and 14 yr old nephew Billy, Dennys crew included His son and 2 grandsons about 16-17 yrs old.
Our 3 boats and crews pull out of Trempeleau on the morning of November 1st. 03', all of us, Looking forward to a little adventure.
