Certainly the gun free school zones are a dopey idea. However, I'm concerned that it's just going to escalate. These things are a relatively recent phenomenon. So why, all of a sudden are people shooting up schools. Is it just because nobody ever thought of it before? Whatever it is I'd sure like to know. It may be optimistic, but it would sure be nice not to have the threat in the first place.

It's everything the Gov you posted said plus a 24 hour news cycle that sees these as an opportunity to promote gun control so that becomes the headline for 2 weeks or more making the shooter famous and that's what many of them want.

Thank you for reminding me of that one. It needs to be on prime time for all the people to see.

They'd probably say that's art we have a right to produce it and anyone who is influenced by that and shoots up a school has a sick mind to begin with and that's what must be dealt with. Kinda what we say about guns.

I wasn't expecting any mea culpas from them, I already know what a bunch of virtue signaling frauds they are.
But I was hoping the public would look at it and see the hypocricy. Probably expecting too much.

Well violent movies and video games certainly have some effect and easy access to guns has some effect but eliminating either of them wouldn't solve the problem. The truth is that freedom has a price and because of that you'll never completely stop crazy people from doing crazy things. There are many things that could be done if our law makers approached it honestly but we all know how that goes.
