He was Sylvester’s brother. The cheese steaks sandwiches were an actual steak between 2 giant pieces of bread. Not resembling the Philly kind at all. I commuted almost every day for nearly a year dur construction. I stayed over a few times until they blew up Joey bag of Doughnuts in a room a couple doors down from me. That and paying Guido the crane guy for 10 no shows I decided to brave flogging my li Mooney 201 back and forth each day. We had other jobs going on and sometimes I’d need to leave and fly up to Boston or out to Centeral Pa. Seems LI is WOXOF most of the time so I’d need to file IFR to get there. Route was Victor 267 to Scope intersection which was about 20 miles off the coast of Asbury Park NJ then straight to Deer Park VOR on the island. That put me well east of the traf descending into Kennedy. Watched the Concorde many times coming in with the nose tilted down.I’d pass east of the Ambrose light tower and during some of the cold winter trips wonder if I could land on one f the tankers out there because life expectancy is about 5 minutes at those temps if God and Lycoming gave up on me. That and the money we made off the job motivated me to buy the twin Cessna 340A people always ask how we got the permits to do what we did up there. But at the time the beaches of LI were covered with medical waste kids were coming out of the water with syringes stuck in their asses. AIDS and Hepatitis B were spreading like crazy so it wasn’t too hard to offer a solution to that. After we finished Mediwaste project we were looking around to site another plant because the growing volume biohazard waste. Arkansas was a place where all the hazmat waste went to speci landfills. The old man had a contact with a handler there that could get us a site and permitting. We flew down to Mena and met him and some guy named Bill in a Denneys. Bill said his wife was a lawyer and co get us any permit we wanted. We left with our hands on our wallets. Ended up building the plant in FtPierce.
