We went from zip to Hillary in a week. I’m still working on the dock. Looki for wood stain for the decking. Any recommendations? My dad always used Cabot’s on our floating docks back in the day. I used Olympic elite on a deck at the homestead and it chipped and peeled in 2 years.the dock and decking are 2x8 immersion rated. The dock lumber company I got it from was upset I used 2x8 for decking because the high arsenic content of marine wood. But they recommended 3 months weathering before staining

So a 3 month weathering is a few good washes with air drying in between. I did my foating docks with Thompsons opaque deck stain that was leftover from the house. It lasted 3 years and now needs a power wash and re-app. Go with a clear oil stain that wont peel. After its weathered a few years, power wash and repeat. Its life it the Sunshine State. You can also wait for it to turn gray, then power wash and stain.. Maybe get three years of rest after that big job. Bring out the deck furnure, umbrella, and a cooler for ice cold Cokes.
