DeBlasio was Dinkins right hand man. NYC was a sewer when Dinkins ran it and they couldn't get rid of him fast enough. You bet your @$$ they forget. Look at the demographics. 20% at or below poverty level. 65% minorities $31k per capita income. Its a socialist heaven. In contrast I live about 25 miles from NYC 2.2% at or below poverty level. 5.7% minorities $78k per capita income. Keep in mind if you live in NYC and are making less than $125K for a family of 4, you are living in poverty. Consider that a mediocre 900 sq ft 1 bedroom apt in Manhattan goes for about $2600 per month. A nice one will run closer to $4000 per month. Forget about buying anything decent unless you can afford at least $1 mil and have 30% or better to put down.

But look how convenient it is.
free bus to the free clinic. free bus to the food bank. free bus to legal aid. free bus to EASL classes. free bus to rikers for fathers day.
more free stuff coming. He will pay back every voter that's alive.

Well, Scott is right about the huge Democrat base in NYC. Dinkins was what, 20 years ago? There's a whole new generation of leftist indoctrinated voters out there that have no recollection of it. There's no explanation for the ones that should remember except stupidity and ideological brainwashing.
I was actually surprised by some of the debates where the moderators kept calling DeBlasio out on some of his B.S. Didn't seem to matter to the fools filling out the ballots. It's going to be interesting because I don't think the NYC of old, where the "rich" were married to Wall St. still exists. I think they're just going to pack up and leave. The NYSE can be anywhere now since it's all digital. So can banks.
Bloomberg made the comment that NYC was going to be the next Detroit (Thanks to his great financial savvy I guess) and it looks like DeBlasio is just the guy to bring it there.

I'm betting he will be able to undo all the mess of the last 20 years and restore NYC to the cool place it was when Dinkins was mayor. Just imagine a NY where criminals and junkies are free to do as they please, the subways can return to being a studio for young graffiti artist, the homeless can pee where ever they want, drugs will be available every where and if you can't afford to live there all you need will be given to you. Isn't freedom great!

On the plus side,... you'll never have a dirty windshield.

No. The limousine liberals are as much to blame.

On the plus side,... you'll never have a dirty windshield. As long as you don't mind your windows being washed with urine.

My worthless outside input: NYC is obsolete. Inertia kept NYC the capital of finance and banking, but with the internet and fast communications, geography is much less relevant. Many big banks are in Charlotte. Fewer people need to be in NYC for business stuff. The ones with money will just leave.
